Economic Collapse or Natural Disaster – Be Prepared!

In times of an economic collapse such as hyperinflation or large scale natural disaster, social unrest will be prevalent everywhere. Panic will be the first thing in everyone’s minds. Events such as these, need preparation before they occur, because once they hit you’re out of time. Everyone should make some form of preparations to care for themselves before events like these happen. Because usually there is little to no warning before an event like this occurs. If you’re not prepared, and are a sole believer that it is the government’s responsibility to step in and take care of you, then you’re in for a rude awakening. Be Prepared!

During a large scale natural disaster, disruptions either temporary or permanent in the public’s supply chain will occur. This will surely mean your local food stores, pharmacy’s and hardware stores will quickly run out of food, medications and construction/repair supplies. Manufacturing and distribution plants might be either shut down or destroyed. Roads could be closed, blocked or destroyed thus making deliveries out of key distribution areas to your area impossible. Social unrest during these times of uncertainty are highly likely to develop.

This adds additional problems such as public disorder including fighting, shootings and arson. Furthermore looting and stealing from local shops and homes, people will be in panic mode. Normal people can become animals, if they have nothing left or no one and nowhere to turn too. Local law enforcement will probably not be able to contain the situation themselves. Expect government law enforcement, even the military to show up to quench the social unrest occurring.

An economic collapse such as hyperinflation includes all the above problems occurring all at once, plus it’s a direct attack upon the monetary system of the country being affected. The moment the currency experiences a weakening the value of basic commodities like oil, gold, and grain will skyrocket. The value of the currency being affected would substantially inflate overnight in the event of severe hyperinflation, such as it did in Weimar Germany back in 1923. Food Prices will sky-rocket and soon after, nothing will be available to buy at any price. Because everyone all at once will rush in to buy out anything and everything left on the shelves of every shop or store still open.
Steps need to be taken in advance both physically and financially, to prevent or avoid many of the immediate problems that will occur. Remember now is the time, while time is on your side to make these preparations before something major happens. If you wait until the last minute, or don’t prepare at all, you’re a sitting duck. The chances for your survival will drop considerably in the event a total economic meltdown occurs. Let’s review some basic steps you will need to know to implement your own emergency preparedness plan.

Make You’re Plan Now

Planning first, is of utmost importance to survive an economic collapse (meltdown) or even a large scale disaster. Make a list showing all your assets and debts. Make those hard decisions now, to pay off debts. Freeing up leftover cash to start buying necessary survival supplies for you and you’re family. Your goal here is to acquire at least the minimum amount of supplies possible as fast as possible. Write down a family escape plan discussing situations such as natural disasters including fire and flooding. Include in your plan, a safe place for everyone to meet up at, in the event everyone were to have to scatter quickly or meet up from different locations.

Change You’re Savings Into Tangible Asserts Now

Should the collapse of your currency through hyperinflation occur, bottom-line your money will be worthless. You should at this time also start converting any excess cash you have held in bank accounts into physical gold and silver. Your gold and silver will not only will increase in value the more the economy declines, but will also act as emergency cash for you to make purchases and barter with later on. Holding onto physical gold and silver now, during these times will guarantee a long lasting financial means of survival into the future for you and you’re family.

Minimum Necessary Survival Items Include:

  • Guns – self defense, home protection and hunting game for food.

  • Basic Food Supplies – at least 6 months per person of the following; dried beans, grains, rice, instant/dehydrated potatoes, canned foods including tuna, salmon, pork, chicken, beef, fruits and vegetables. Also include high energy foods such as peanut butter, oatmeal, raisins, dried dates and honey. These will keep for a long time. If you have infants, insure you include baby formula, baby supplies and required medicine.

  • Water Storage and Purification – keep plenty of fresh potable water on hand which can be stored in tightly sealed plastic buckets or drums and add 8 drops of chlorine bleach per gallon of water to help it stay fresh for 6 months. Also small water filtration equipment such as what back packers use in wilderness/survival situations will come in handy when bulk water storage is not possible. Remember a person needs about 2 quarts/liters of water per day.

  • Prescription Medications and First Aid Supplies – During a natural disaster or economic collapse chances are high you’re not going to be able to get prescription medication from a pharmacy because they will be out of stock and most likely closed. Therefore now is a great time to start stocking up on your family’s prescription medications. Include some first aid kits for cuts, scrapes, burns, insect/animal bites or stings, insect repellent, common medicines for colds & flu, coughs, headaches, aches and pains etc. other items might include bleach and other household disinfectants for keeping germs away.

Grow Your Own Garden

Growing your own fruits and vegetables this allows a fresh supply and variety of fruits and veggies which can be eaten, canned, stored for later use or even traded. Items which you need but don’t currently have, can easily be traded for with your fruits and vegetables. Another thing to consider here is raising small or large animals for consumption. Raise animals such as chickens for eating and fresh eggs, rabbits, sheep, pigs, or beef. These are great ways to keep the family feeding trough going when prices are at their peaks and hard to come by. Fresh meats and eggs are also excellent bartering items.

Know Who Is Around You

Ensure you know everyone who lives in your neighborhood or around your area. Make as many friends as possible. Try to include your friends into your “survival circle” everyone inside your circle can help contribute food, food preservation, gardening, cooking, labor, protection and first aid to all your circle’s members. This can be of great benefit in times of an economic collapse such as hyperinflation or a massive natural disaster.

During an economic crisis, hyperinflation or any large scale natural disaster, expect that the government will not be able to help everyone. These days it is clearly apparent, that government’s cannot even help themselves. It is up to you, to help yourselves. The more people you can count on and trust, the easier it will be for you, your friends and loved ones to survive.
